What is a Land Trust?

Land Trusts are local, grass-roots, non-profit conservation organizations. Land Trusts are directly involved in protecting natural, scenic, recreational, agricultural, historic and cultural lands.

Land Trusts:

  • Preserve land through donations, life estates, and purchases
  • Secure and monitor conservation easements
  • Work in partnership with private and governmental conservation agencies
